If you think you encounter Jyutping errors, please tally them here. For example,

• 冚被 should be pei5 but it is currently bei6
  • need to check all other varieties of 被. These changes were lost in the migration from v1 to v2.
  • 羽絨被、化纖被、羊毛被、蠶絲被、纖維被、發熱被、被單、被胎、冷氣被、x款被、x條被、x張被、被子🚫、床被
• 使唔使 should be sai2 m4 sai2 but is currently si2 m4 sai2

When I fix it in a later minor version, I’ll reply to the post. There is an Universe of words, and not all can/should be in the font. I expect this to trickle in and finally become stabilize in a year or so.

I struggled a long time with this, and couldn’t make up my mind which one I hear more often. I decided that 譚.taam2 and 譚.taam5will both be expressible sounds, and that 譚仔 as either 2/5 would probably be good enough. Why 2? No real good reason and would be happy to defer to your judgment of 5.

How does 譚.taam2仔 sound? I always have trouble in getting alternate pronunciation without listening

This works in MacOS (CoreText apps as well as VectorStyler), so the b/w appearance is some Microsoft Unicode Extension Plane encoding error. I’ll add jip6 as a potential reading.

I think in this case the difference between 2/5 is really subtle. I’ve changed the potential change to 譚.taam5仔.

There are other pairs of 異體字 that are common:

• 8AAA 說 / 8AAC 説

These need a duplicated set of feature rules accommodating both codepoints. Need to check.

Could potentially use this to handle some simplified Chinese, but given the volume of glyphs required this probably cannot be done exhaustively. Need to check how much room is left in 2.8-draft.

I don’t have a good process for this, at least not on this first pass. What I’ve done is manually added entries corresponding to the following pairs, in a bi-directional way:

• 著 着
• 説 說
• 強 强
• 雞 鷄
• 啟 啓
• 裡 裏
• 恒 恆
• 烟 煙
• 劫 刦
• 恥 耻

I picked these mostly because they are visually hard to distinguish (few people even would recognize 説 說 雞 鷄 are different), or significant in Taiwan usage (e.g., 裡 裏).
